Satya means truthfulness.
Santosha means contentment.
PROMPT 1: Truth has the power to right wrongs and. end sorrows. It is fears in its’ demands. Truth demands integrity to life and to our own self that is more than not telling a simple lie. When we are real rather than nice, when we choose self expression and growth over the need to belong, we begin to taste the freedom of Satya.
This week, consider what truthfulness means to you in your life. As Satya teaches us, truthfulness starts with our ability to tell ourselves the truth. Consider when you might avoid being honest with yourself, and what the impact of that dishonesty may be. (Examples can range from the small - how much you think you can accomplish in one day - to the large - whether you’re happy in your relationship) What is one way that you can be more honest with yourself, starting now? What might your life look like if you were willing to contact truthfulness in every moment?
PROMPT 2: Santosha invites us into contentment by taking refuge in a calm center, opening our hearts in gratitude for what we do have, and practicing “not seeking”. Looking outward for fulfillment will always keep contentment one step out of reach.
Reflect on your own contentment. Do you spend time feeling grateful for the blessings in your life? Or do you spend your time “getting ready” for life to start when the next thing finally happens? What would it feel like to live your life contentedly, trusting that you have what you need, and that all is coming? In a society that values striving and driving, how would it feel to lay off the gas and simply allow yourself to breathe and feel a sense of enoughness?
